Default Liver disease vs mass vs diabetes

My female cat Sammy died last week she was only 3 years old. we got her from animal control when she was several months old. She was spayed and had her vaccinations as usual. She got sick a year and a half ago - she was jaundice and not eating or drinking and had a fever. At that time the vet gave me subQ fluids and antibiotics and I force fed her special critical care food. That time her FIP workup was negative. This time the same stuff happened and I wasnt so lucky and we lost her. Sam was obese as far as I remember. I think once she became an adult she was round in the abdomen but she was very small framed. Everyone always asked if she was pregnant. Sam died the morning after I took her to the vet this time so she only had one round of meds which was amoxicillin, dysonel?(liver stuff) , prednisone and Iv bag of normal saline for Subcutaneous injections. That morning of her death , she was sitting on the couch (same spot she was all night) and she looked very alert..my hubby even stated she looked better..I started giving her the Subq fluids just 50cc of fluid she tolerated well. My daughter and hubby left for work. Then I started to give her the prednisone and I couldnt get it down her. She would gag it up and then she started to get foamy at the mouth. I gave up with that cuz I didnt want to upset her anymore. She got all upset after all that and she cried out and got antsy she slid herself off the couch and she couldnt really walk and was crying. She crawled in my room and started foaming and crying and dragging herself on the carpet. She then started going into respiratory distress and stopped breathig completely in my arms. I am so so so sad. It was very tramatizing and I was wondering if anyone might of had a cat with similar symptoms but was diagnosed. The vet said she doesn't know why sam was sick but it involved her liver. I miss her so much and I wrote a little something about her in the rainbow forum. Thanks

Oh darling I am so terribly sorry. It is so hard to deal with and my thoughts are with you.

I had a kitty awhile back that died of liver disease, it is something she was born with and it wasn't until my mom and I went away and our kitchen got painted that she began to show symptoms of the disease. Our vet told us that it was with her but the stress of everything triggered it to kick out and thats when she started showing signs of confusion, where she couldn't walk straight and she would fall over, jaundice. It was very difficult, and she was quite young as well.

Your kitty's large stomach was probably due to her retaining water/fluid, which is commom when the liver begins to break down.

I am so sorry dear *hug*
