My kittens are 16 weeks old and doing well...I feed them about 75-80% Nutro canned for kittens. Local store has about 2 varaties in kitten style, but 4-5 in adult varaties.
Keep feeding the kittten format, or okay to go with adult so they have more varities?

Its best to stick to kitten food until they are about a year old.
Kitten food has extra fats etc etc which growing rascals need. Adult food doesnt have this (for obvious reasons) If you cant get hold of kitten food because a shop has run out or something then it isnt gonna hurt them, but long term kitten food is ideal. |

IMHO I think you could start mixing in adult food in small proportions, increasing as they get older, watching to see if they eat it and what comes out the other end, and ending up with straight adult food about at one year. That's basically what I'm doing, although one of my three has a possible G-I problem that may need special care.
I hadn't heard about the spay/neuter aspect mentioned in previous msg; it sounds reasonable. On the other hand, the kitten is still growing, so needs extra nutrition whether neutered or not. Perhaps what was meant was that was when you could start transitioning. Tim |
