Default Could anyone tell me what they think this might be

My cat Rex is 10 month old and today I found something strange that looks to be growing out of his skin ... could anyone tell me what it might be?

Thanks

apologies for the poor quality pictures

just wondered if anyone could tell me before I take him to the vets

hard to tell from the picture if it's natural or man-made. it almost looks like something got stuck in his skin.

doesn't look normal in any case. but whether it's any danger to health, your guess is as good as mine.

I think, unless someone else here comes up with an answer, you'd best consult your vet. and let us know what you find out, please.

It is where he can scratch? It looks like a cats nail

it looks like it's stuck in the neck; I'm assuming that's collar at the top. I was thinking the curvature was a little too uniform for a nail; it almost looks artificial.

I think it does look like it could be a nail.
Very had to tell from those pictures.

Whatever it is, it's very unlikely that it is growing out of your cats body like that. Looks like something got stuck in there. Have you tried to remove it? It doesn't look like it's stuck in very deep, looks like it's just pricking like a thorn almost.

It's very bizarre in any case. If you are not comfortable doing anything with it, take the kitty to the vet.

I must say, I agree with Tim, it does look a bit artificial.
