Hi, I reall yneed any help anyone can offer. I have a cat that lives outdoors. About 3 weeks ago, one of her eyes became swollen, to the point where it is almost shut. It was red and looked infected. She became very agitated, and i could not catch her, she would hide deep inside an old barn filled with hay, equipment etc. After a few days, it appeared to clear up, and she became friendly and acting normal again. Now, as of about 5 days ago, her whole head has swollen, both eyes almost shut, so she cant see. she also has what appears to what might be a cyst onher head now. This seems to have developed overnight again. I called a vet, and they sai dbring her in. But the problem is A: catching her and B: the nearest vet is like an hour easily from where I live, and I dont have a car. It isnt looking good for the poor cat. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before? have any advice? please any help would be great,,,
Thanks Chris |

based on your description, it might be an upper respiratory infection with a secondary infection. this cat needs to see a vet, pronto. please do your best to see that does. you could take a blanket or large towel and throw that over her and wrap her up in it if you can get close enough to do that. do you have someone you can ask to give you a ride, or someone to take the cat for you? if you can't do this yourself, is there a local humane association or shelter that might be able to help this poor cat?

Either rent a trap from the Humane Society or sit quietly and tempt her with her favorite food. I do think, as the others do, and as you expressed, that this could be a life or death situation. Get help, corner her, and use a net, if necessary, but get her to the vet, please. God bless and good luck.

Since you described her as an outdoor cat and said this happened pretty suddenly, I think she may have an allergic reaction called urticaria. It was probably caused by an insect bite or sting, or possibly a food or contact allergy.
I would still recommend finding a vet to go to, or see if one can come to your house as it may be something very serious. <3 Roze
