Okay, so all of you know that Addison has had many ailments since we brought her home. From significant vaccination reactions, to this recent eosinophilic granuloma development, now we think kitty acne, though it could also be the EG as it shows up similarly. Every little thing has an effect on her and tomorrow she goes in for her spay surgery. We've actually been considering trying one dose of the steroid injections as she isn't getting any better with the EG issue, but wanted to hold off until after her surgery just incase it does compromise the immune system.
OF COURSE they vet knows all of this and I'll be sure to bring it all up again and we've already talked about the anesthesia, etc. - but I'm seriously worried about how this is going to impact her overall health. Of course it's the responsible pet owner thing to do and she's been on again off again in heat the last 6 weeks, so I know she's miserable, but boy am I worried. By the way, she was originally scheduled for her surgery at our anti-cruelty society low cost clinic. Last week I cancelled there and we are going to our own vet. It gives me piece of mind. Scheduled it for the same day because I had already arranged to come in a little late and leave a little early with work, etc. Is there anything I should look out for when she comes home? What should I expect to be normal behaviour? Rest assured I'll be posting a lot tomorrow! |

Oh yeah. We were going to also have her microchipped, but I'm having second thoughts about that as well. I know having any type of problem with the chips is very rare, but even Dr. Jean did have a problem with one of her cats. With Addison's luck something will happen...so I'm thinking of not doing the chip. What do you guys think?

I might be best to hold off on chipping her until after her spay, if you're concerned about reactions. That way, she's not trying to get over two things, but just one.
I hope Addison has a successful surgery and a speedy recovery. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you both!!! |

Well, the vet said she didn't come out of the anesthesia as fast as they would have liked, but other than that she did just fine. She had already started licking at her incision at the vets office - so she's been issued the infamous e-collar.
