Default Dandruff

I'm noticing lately that both of my black kitties are showing more dandruff than normal. I'm assuming the dry winter air has something to do with it... Anyway, I know a mostly wet diet would help, but I've posted before about Otis' refusal to eat wet food and mom's compromise as I'd rather see him eating dry than nothing at all... Both drink a fair amount of water... is there anything else I can do to get rid of it?

Is there any way they could have fleas? I ask beause Ashley, my kitty who NEVER goes even one paw outside, somehow got fleas last month, and she had HORRIBLE dandruff. At the time I didn't ake any correlation, but after we treated her and got rid of the fleas, her dandruff COMPLETELY disappeared.

Brewer's Yeast helps too. You can mix some in with their food.

I used to put this on Zoee's food. It is called Linatone. She used to pick through and find the peices it wasn't on

Prior ro getting them to eat the wet food diet I had the same problem with Zoee. She always had dandruff. Somewhere I found a conditioning spray. You spray it onto the skin and then brush. It seemed to work fairly well. I had another kind a few years ago and it worked ok too. I'll try and remember where I got it from.

My mom's cat has horrible dry skin. She's on meds for it but it doesn't always help. Mom started bathing once a week and Fidget no longer opens herself up scratching.

Also, I know when it gets real dry, if I set up my humidifier, it helps both me and my kitties. They're not as itchy when I have it running.
