Default Bump on head

My cat jacky, she is about 2 years.
SHe has had the small wound on the top of her head. she has had it for awhile. At first we thought it was from playing with her youngsters (not so young now). We thought they got carried away playing and she got bitten by her daughter. But the thing is, it scabbed up, but it keeps on opening up and getting bigger. We dont know what to do and cant afford to take her to the vet.
Any advice???
Thanks

play doesn't cause injuries, well, it's pretty unusual anyway. this sounds like it might be an abcess. I really don't think there's anything you can do at home to cure this. maybe someone else here will have some ideas on home care, but I think it would be best to see a vet.

what is a vet visit worth for the health of your cat? call around to the vets in your area and see if one will work with you on a payment plan. explain your circumstances. if you are truly in need, maybe some vet will do it for cost for the benefit of the cat.

remember that failure to provide needed health care for a pet in many areas is considered animal cruelty. please do the right thing.

We usually do, do the right thing for our animals.
But as i stated above, right now we cant. We arent being cruel.
I have taken my cats in for c-sections, cathiders. We spade and nuder.
Keeps up on shots. Our vet bill can be outrages at times. The last visit was with my dog, he is 13, her coughs all the time has arther in his hips. HAs fluid in his lungs thats putting pressure on his heart. The vet said its just a matter of time. We keep him on meds.
Truely we arent being cruel. We both recently lost our jobs cant cant make a vet trip.

All i wanted to know is if anyone knew what this would be? WHat can we do?
I read somewhere about shaving her where the wond is and put antibiotic cream on it. Since its on the top of her head she cant reach it to care for it herself.

the thing about putting ointment on a cat is that even though they can't reach it with their tongue, they'll still be able to get at it with their paws and transfer from paw to tongue. you notice the way they clean their faces, right?

I really don't think there's much you can do at home. I'm concerned because you said it's getting bigger. it doesn't sound like a typical flesh wound that will heal on its own.

I'm sorry you've had so many problems and I didn't intend to accuse you of cruelty. I just stated what the facts are. I suggested some options for you to get veterinary service for this cat. Another option I thought of is to call the local humane association and see if they might have some program to help animal owners in financial distress. Please try to explore all your options.

okay thanks... I never thought about the cleaning.

I didnt mean to come off so bad, but, we do care for our anmimals.
My husband seems to bring strays in all the time. We take them to the vet first thing to make sure they are not realy sick. Most of them just need, tlc and alot of it. My daughter cares them alot.

One time he saw this kitten at a country store, he went in and bought some food for her. After he gave the food to her, he went back in to get what he needed. When he came out he noticed that some one had kicked over the food, and the kitten was limping hardly could stand. Some one kicked the poor thing. So of course he brought it home. We took her to the vet, she had a dislocated hip and was very malnutrioned. She was touch and go for awhile, but she pulled through..
