Default Fungus

Taby has been diagnosed with a fungus Apparently it's two things, once a bacterial infection and the other a regular fungus... I do know one it's called Staphylococcus Epiderm or something like that.

I was trying to look up info on it but didn't find much. The vet said to buy two different shampoos and give him weekly baths with both of them for 6 weeks.

If any of you have experienced something like these, do shampoos usually work? I read on some website that they're not always enough. The vet was gonna order some cream but Taby licks it right away. It's on his head, he'd just sit down and lick away for the longest time til it's all gone, so the vet said to not use it at all then.

Taby doesn't seem to be too bothered. He scratches around the head often but not desperately and not all the time. He only has a small bald spot on his head at the moment, nothing else visible on his fur.

Any comments would be much appreciated!

Staphylococcus is a bacteria, not a fungus.

well, I guess the reason I mentioned that was because the shampoos don't treat a bacterial infection. for that you need an antibiotic. a skin condition for which a shampoo is prescribed is normally a fungus. I just wanted you to make sure your cat was getting the right treatment, so he gets better.

Staph epi is a normal human skin bacteria. Everyone has staph epi on their skin (but I don't know if it is part of the normal kitty bacteria). Staph epi is not usually considered something that causes an infection in humans.
