I don't know what to think. She didn't have access to poison when she was at my house except that I have some essential oils and I've heard bad things about those now but they are always inaccessible to my pets. If it was a poisoned mouse, would a mouse travel from a house 500 feet away when it's cold out and then be alive but cause such a traumatic death in my cat? I can't fathom that but I guess it could happen.
I talked to several vets and several people and I will never know for sure. I can't imagine rabies making a perfectly normal cat have that happen so suddenly and I hate to dig her up after 3 days and have her tested, especially because I've heard it should be tested soon and could be too late now. Does anyone have any experience with rabies death in their animals? I just can't imagine that it could be that when just earlier that day the cat was fine, was content to be petted, and just all around fine, but I don't know much about rabies except what I read (which is baffling).
True, I didn't know much about her, her background or her personality, but I saw a perfectly content cat adapting to her surroundings, sleeping with us by our feet and never acted odd until that moment. If she was in pain and I just didn't know it, say liver cancer or something strange, would she be fine one moment-as fine as I knew her to be-and vomitting and losing control of her bowel movements the next? I'm sorry to keep going on, I just hate that it happened and I hate that I don't know why. Life is so fragile. Thanks everyone.
