NewRagdoll, I have never met a cat in all my years that even liked SD canned...the stuff looks nasty!!! It doesn't have a good smell and even my cats who will only eat canned wouldn't touch it. Not to mention the ingredients aren't even good for the price...

I don't see how that would help.
there is method behind the madness. obviously he prefers the dry food. if you stir it up and coat the dry food with the wet, he will have to eat both to get the dry food down. this will accustom him to the taste of the wet food. trust me, it works, I've done it. you might even mix in a little warm water and make gravy. potatoes and gravy is so much better than straight potatoes!!

What brands have you tried? Some cats are really picky.

Also, maybe if you try with a full meal of dry food with just a teeny tiny bit of canned snuck in and see if he eats it, then over time increase it just a TINY bit at a time he won't notice so much?

I don't know if you've tried Wellness or not, but its a big hit here

I was actually thinking about switching to Wellness, but, as our only local pet food store only carries Nutro and Eukanuba, I would have to order a case of Wellness online. And that's a lot of money to spend on the off-chance that he MIGHT eat it. So, next time we visit our family in Atlanta, I will pick some up at a store I found that actually carries it. Then we'll give it a go.

I am jumping in on this post a little late, but I second OsnobunnieO comment. My cat was a stray when I got him. He would eat whatever kind of food I would put in front of him for the first week few weeks. I think he would just so hungry he would have eaten a shoelace if I put in it his bowl. After he got comfy and realized that he would always have food he became super picky. I tried about 50 different types of foods -dry or wet. I called my vet and they gave me this huge box of every sample of food they had. Dhani wouldn't eat any of them. Finally, I tried Iams Kitten food and he ate it. He loved it. That was the only food I could get him to eat. After I got him to start eating again I would try to mix in better quatlity dry food or canned and eh would not eat the food. He would sniff around then walk away.
