Yay! Good that he got better! I bet you can make up for all his time inside by playing with him and loving him forever!

Carla, I'm so glad for you and Mr.Jingles. I knew you'd make the deciscion to keep him indoors if he was to recover from his injuries
He'll cry for awhile, maybe a month maybe two, but he won't always do that. Just keep a close eye on him as he will try every time the door opens to escape, until he knows that your not going to let him out. He might even hide and pout for a few days, but he'll get over that too.
Just get him a few new toys and make a rule to play games with him everyday. The more you do the sooner he'll forget about how bad he wants outside cause he's having so much fun inside.
Make him his own special place in the house, like someplace he can watch what everyone eles is doing without being disturbed. Put a bed or box there for him, maybe even a little basket for his toys by the box/bed. Later on, after he's calmed down and ok with indoor life, you could get him one of those window seats without him going crazy up the curtains trying to get out.
The kittywalk that Adrienne showed us would be great but probably not right away since he's not used to being caged outdoors. Let him get good and healthy and fully recovered before introducing something like that.
I've been wanting to order the Kittywalk with the hammick and a few extra runs for my cat but never could put the money out.
Let us know how his recovery comes along.

Default great progress allready!

because mr jingles has damages his pelvis, Some of his nerves in his back end might not work. But today he has been swishing his tail. even trying to walk, even though he shouldnt!!! but the best part of all is that he walked into his littertray and had a wee!!!! so now he must be able to know if he needs the toilet!! This was one of our main concerns when he finally recovers,What if he just kept weein his self etc... but now we know he is fine!! I and the vets think jingles willpull through really well! he is a very strong cat!! Today he has been sitting up, Watching alert! and puring!

Carla. I am thankful that Mr. Jingles is doing well. Now it is your turn to make sure he is safe. I have 7 catsat this time from age 6 months to 18 years. Have had cats for over 50 years. None have ever been outside except to go to the vet. I would no more let my cats roam free than I would have allowed one of my children to play on the freeway.

If you feel you must let them out them fix a place so they are safe. I have a friend that made a fenced area off one bedroom window. The area is about a 10'x10' screened in room that they can access through a cat door in a window. It has a small tree. They can be outside and still be safe.

Believe me cats can live a very happy and much longer life inside. There is no chance of getting hit, catching diseases, get attact by dogs, or get poisioned by angry neighbors.

This may seem harsh but, as pet owners it is OUR responsibility to keep our pets safe from harm. Allowing a cat to roam free without supervision runs the major risk of it getting injured.

Our local paper has a "Cheers & Jeers". It seems each week there will be a couple in there Jeering someone for hitting a dog or car in the street in front of someones hours. Well jeers to the owner for their pet being out.
Yes I do know that sometimes pets escape.
