Many times you get what you pay for. (Not always, but a lot of the times.) Call around, ask about the procedure and how long the cat is kept, what kind of medicine is used to put them under, et cetera. You can usually gauge how much it should cost from there.
Also be sure to mention that you have two cats that need to be fixed. You might get lucky and get a deal. |

As Tim said above, be sure to get the ENTIRE itemized price quote from the various vets. They do love to tack on all kinds of extra charges. NOTE- My vets always charged extra for post op pain meds.

My vet in Iowa charges $40 to spay a cat. My punkin went into heat before I took her in. The vet told me it's normally $40 but since she was in heat, it would cost more. Don't ask me why.
But I didn't say anything. She went into heat on a Sunday. I called the Vet on Monday and they were booked. They let me bring her on Tuesday and said they would keep her until they could fit her in. They ended up keeping her until Wednesday afternoon and they didn't charge me for boarding. So I wasn't going to complain about the extra $20. Know what I mean? |
