Default Soft Stools from Kitten

Hi all

I need help here. I changed my kitten food to Wellness Supermix for kittens dry about 1 month ago.. and up to now, his stools is still very soft.
He was on mix of Royal Canin and Pro Plan from the breeder and before I change the food. I need to know how long does it take before they get use to the new food?

Also, his backside area looks abit raw or red.. so I'm getting abit worry. He also kept stepping onto his own soft stools, so it gets abit messy around the house. Otherwise, he's playing and eating normally. Still very active.

Should I worry? Or should I switch back to his original food?

PLEASE, switch back to the original food right away. If after a few days you are still seeing a problem, further fine tuning of the diet will be necessary.

Some cats never get used to certain foods, so the sooner you switch back to the food that didn't cause any problems for your kitten, the better.

I don't know what's in the Wellness kitten formula, but in the adult formula I counted seven different grains if I remember correctly. Way too much for many cats.

Wash your kitten's behind very gently with soft, wet white bathroom tissue (don't use colored tissue) once or twice a day and pat dry with dry tissue. If you call your vet they can give you a tube of Animax cream or some other ointment that will help heal the sore, red area very quickly.

Just an update on Favor. His stool is still on the soft side, but definitely better than before. The vet said that he probably has a sensitive stomach and just have to be careful on the food. All is well.

btw: we just got another kitten.. playmate for Favor!!!
