Default Weird scabs? What are they?

Just wondering what these weird scabs are on Trini. Most of them are pretty tiny, but there are enough to make me worry. Mostly they're around her shoulders and her neck, however I found a larger one about 3/4ths the size of a dime closer to her rear. Any idea of what this could be?

And she's going to the vet soon if they don't get better!

Sounds like it could be mites. Mites tend to like to congregate around the shoulders, neck and base of the tail...so kitty ends up scratching those areas raw. When Murray got them we had to take him to the vet to get rid of them. She did a skin scrape to look for mites but couldn't see any...however the symptoms were consistant with mite infestation. She gave him an injection of Ivomec and he cleared right up. We also had to bomb the house as theres no sense treating the critter and then putting him back into an infested location. They are tricky to get rid of in the house. Them little buggers were even jumping on us and biting us causing rashs on us. Grrr! Best of luck with your kitty!

I actually don't think that it' s mange, it just doesn't look that way. hey're very, very tiny and the larger one is on her back. Oh well, we'll see what the vet says.

We originally thought that Murray just had a flea allergy too until we looked him over real well and found that he had no evidence of flea presence. The scabby areas were quite small all around his neck, shoulders and around the base of his tail....also the tips of his ears got somewhat crusty feeling.

Anyhow...let us know what your vet says! Best wishes!

Hmm, I'm starting to think that it just might be mange. She's starting to lose hair on her face, which is bad.

Well, we have an appointment for next Wednesday! I wish we could have made it sooner, but I guess she'll be okay until then.

Well it wasn't mange and it wasn't fleas! The doctor gave her some steroids.. apparently it's a rash that happens for a reason they don't really know where there are just lots of clusters of white blood cells.. or something around there. He called it fancy-name-granular-something. =)

Anyway, so she's getting better and both my cats are healthy!

They do know. In most cases: allergy.

Please look at this information
http://www.fabcats.org/eosinophilicgranuloma.html
and start working like crazy to find out what your kitty is allergic to and get rid of whatever it is from the diet as fast as you can.

And a quick question for you.
What are you using for water and food dishes? Plastic, ceramic, stainless steel?
Do you have a water fountain?

Also,
What are you feeding?

Does your kitty have access to plants (live or artificial)?

Food and water dishes are normally associated with feline acne, but those things can also cause granulomas (in fact even in places other than the face, mouth, etc), that's why I'm asking you about dishes, fountain, etc.
