Default Help reading surgery notes

Please click to see pic here.

Can anyone make sense out of what it says or translate the abbreviations or notes into plain english for me? I'd appreciate it a lot. Just trying to understand all that has been done to her during her month-long shelter stay.

Well, if I'm decifering correctly
Jun 10/05 3.3kg (in heat) cat spay
I can't quite make out the last word.

I'd say that means on 6/10/05 the cat was spayed while in heat. And weighed 3.3kg at the time?

Oh thank you so much! That helped a lot. Ok so that is 7.3 pounds... wow I'm surprised, she looks lighter in person.

I wonder if spaying while in heat is normal or indicated or WHAT, don't know a thing about it.

Well very INTERESTING
thanks again.

Spaying a cat while they are in heat is fairly common, it's just a little more complicated to do, and is usually more expensive.

A lot of young cats we spey are in season, and their owners just don't know about it. I've yet to see a problem with speying a cat in season. The only increased risk is due to the increased blood supply to the ovaries & uterus. I would imagine the majority of entire female cats in shelters ARE in season, as it usually only takes the prescence of a tom cat.

I would think that the last word on the note is some kind of medication she was given - an antibiotic injection?

That's what I thought too, the name of some sort of med that they put her on or maybe the name of the anesthesia
