Default Now Nya's not eating...

I may have another problem... Nya seems to have lost her appetite. Nothing else seems wrong at all, she's just not eating. I put down food for her, and she does NOT touch it. I smother it in tuna juice, and she just laps up the juice. I caught her sneaking nibbles out of the dry food once (which she never does usually) so I know she's eaten SOMETHING. And I got her to eat some cheese. Since there's nothing else wrong with her, I'm really hoping it's just the heat. She's drinking at least.

With the heat lately, mine haven't really been eating - just drinking.

Plus she may be sensing some of Buddy's feelings. If any of ours are not feeling well, the others (especially Bumpy) start to get really down too.

*phew* I'll try not to worry too much. She's nibbled here and there, so although she's not eating substantially, I know she's getting SOMETHING. I'm going to pick up a few things this weekend, to try some things to keep them cool in this heat, hopefully that will help stimulate her appetite.

Please be careful. I would bring her in. Not to scare you, but this is what happened to my late cat. She quit eating. I thought it was no big deal. She had advanced hepatic lipidosis and I lost her in May, 6 weeks after her diagnosis.

My new cat has been eating fine with the heat. 2/3 cup a day.

I wish I would have brought Jasmine in earlier when I first noticed her not eating, I wonder if I coud have saved her.

Look up hepatic lipidosis on the internet... one of the first symptoms is when your cat stops eating.

Not to worry, she ate a fair bit tonight There was a good breeze coming through the house, and I guess she was cooler. I wasn't going to put out dinner, as I've put wet food down 3 times already today, only to have to throw it out an hour later as it hasnt' been touched. But she actually raced me to the kitchen for it I'm not too worried now, I'll talk to the vet about it when I bring Buddy in for his second surgery. If they think there's reason for concern, I'll definatley bring her in! Thanks guys!

My four were all little piglets last night now that it has cooled down - they ate their whole days worth of food and were all sitting at the foot of the bed meowing for more food this morning

It is nice today though, I am glad we got rid of some of that humidity.

Hope everything goes Ok with Buddy and Nya
