Earlier today, we found a malnurished kitten approximately 8 weeks old. The kitten is very skinny and seems to have some kind of fluid or air buildup around its ribs (very soft to the touch... squishy). We asked a friend and they said it could be a punctured lung, but he is breathing ok.
We are going to take him to the Vet, but not until Monday. We were wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be? We hope he doesn't have to be put down. |

I have never heard of anything like that. I hope he does okay. Just make sure you feed h im as much as he wants and make sure he isn't dehydrated. I just went through putting weight on a six week old kitten that was emaciated to the point that I didn't know if he was going to survive the night. One week later, he is much better and the sweetest thing you'll ever meet. You'll be suprised how quicky they come back from something so horrible. The kitten could also have worms. Take in a stool sample for the vet. They will want to test it. Hope all goes well...
