Default Excessive Drooling..Please Help

My kitty started drooling excessively this morning. I noticed our trash bag was all torn up from the bones I put in it last night, however, it was not tipped over. Also, my husband got me some plants which my kitty decided to play with.
He started to really drool and I took him to the ER. Prior to taking him I called a couple of Vet Clinics and they said it is necessary to get him examined right away. So off we went...his vitals were all normal and we was acting very playful and his usual self. They couldn't find anything wrong w/ him. But the doctor suggested we put a tube down his throat to examine if maybe he did swallow a piece of the trash bag or maybe a poisonous flower. After leaving him at the ER for a couple of hours for the procedure and now $200 later they have not found anything to be wrong with him. He is now back at home and is starting to drool again. What could this be?? Oh he is also eating and drinking normally and has not thrown up at all!!!

Hmm, that's a puzzler! Could he be eating the plant and it tastes bad which is making him drool? Is he just drooling all the time or while doing certain things? Did he stop drooling at the vets? The only other thing I can think of is if it's when you're petting him. I've had 2 cats that drooled up a storm when they were really happy. Is that a poosibility? Wish I could be more help.

How old is kitty? Drooling is a symtom of the hyperthyroidism my cat has, but it usually happens around 13 years old on the average according to what I've read.

LadneKotki,

A little bit of information. Maybe you'll find something helpful in it that you can follow up on:

Yesterday he was drooling all day. He was laying there and simply saliva was dripping from his mouth. Kinda like water from a faucet. And I was not even petting him or giving him attention. And he is 3 yrs old. (as someone asked in a previous post) Today he seems to be drooling a little less..He is still eating and drinking normally.

Could be kidney failure. Has his kidney's been tested?

Yea, that doesn't sound like "happy drooling" Did the vet do a full check up? Blood and urine? If not it sounds like that would be the next step.

Thank you all for your insights on what could this be. But the good news is his drooling is gone. He had a little bit this morning but now he is not drooling at all. And the doctor yesterday said that since he is acting normal and there is nothing wrong w/ him that he can see we may just never know what this could be. He is eating normally, drinking, playing..acting like his usual self and no drool!!!!
