Default Scars??

Hey, another question for anyone that can answer it. Tyson (the former stray) has scars all over, but they still scab over?? Is that right? When he lets me I can take the scab off, doesn't bother him in the least. But is it normal? I don't know how recent the scars are as I got him off the street a week ago, but I'm not sure if I should be removing the scabs or applying ointment? Or just let him be? Some of them don't have the scabs but the one right on the top of his head does as does the one that goes across his throat...oh, and one on his right paw. Any ideas?

Default I have 2 daved cats too.

I'd let the scabs heal if possible,. The vet told me that if the skin gets black it might be some sort of natural cells that come into the picture that are specific to the cat as an animal and may cause histomine/itching. Hope the that cat doesn't start biting and scratching it's all over. Watch for lice too, I think mine have had them for years now.

Alright, after reading your post (thank you, by the by) I checked out the scabs again. The one on his head is very dark, possibly black, and his other scars just have scaly skin and plain scabs. Aaaaand he did have lice when we first found him, put on Frontline and now all gone, but all of them were on this hind quarters and there are no scars on the bottom half of his body. In any case, I'll just leave the scabs be, but the thing is, I swear the skin is healed. It's like his scar tissue is flaking?? I know it's not hurting him because he lets me touch them, but it looks uncomfortable.

Is he licking the area at all?
We had a dog when I was younger that had a burn on her hip from when she was a tiny puppy (she was too close to a heating lamp, the breeder didn't notice in time ).
She constantly licked it. It literally was always scabbed over, even when she was an old dog. We tried all sorts of stuff, but couldn't get her to quit licking it. It just never had a chance to heal fully.

When I first got my guy he was a stray and had little scabs all over his head and ears. The vet checked him all out and he was treated for fleas. (Don't know whether they were from fleas or fights). Anyway, it took a couple of weeks for them to fully clear up. I wouldn't remove them either. Just let them heal on theur own.
