Default 10 m/old female kitten has lumps under her belly?

Hi,

I have a 10 month old female kitten (fully vaccinated).

Today while playing with her, I found some lumps along where her teats are, there are 3 on the left side, and one on the right side, they are movable, quite biggish, say the size of a large peanut, but not hard, and not painful when I was touching them.

Shes healthy, still eating, drinking etc, no signs of any obvious ill health.

She had her first 'season' 2 weeks ago, and they werent there then.

Could it be hormonal, Im hoping it is, as Im worried it could be mammary tumours?

Shes due to be desexed in the new year, and she is an indoor cat, never outside and my male is already desexed, so she isnt pregnant.

Im taking her to the vets next week.

I used to have a male cat who had that (scared me to death when I found them!) Turned out they were just sebateous cysts and nothing to worry about. I would imagine, in such a young cat, the likelyhood of cancer is pretty slim, but I'd certainly get them checked.

False pregnancies are not very common in cats, but it could be one. It certainly sounds like mammary development - if you are absolutely certain she could not have been mated in the past 2 months, I would suspect this.
