I'm trying to figure out how to file my claim. According to the people on their customer service line I can just hold onto everything and file a claim at the end. Sounds good but after looking at the benefits schedule I'm worried. It's set up with allowences for a primary dx, primary dx testing, anesthesia, chemo and then a secondary dx.
My cat was initially dx'ed with a uti or cystitis and we tried two different anitbiotics to get rid of the infection with no change in her urinalysis. At that point we did an xray and discovered she has a bladderstone. I'm afraid that if I file it all as one claim they will say the cystitis is the primary dx and the bladder stone is the secondary. I am considering scheduling Quinn for surgery to remove the stone. That surgery is covered adequetly by vpi but I have to make sure it's the primary dx. The secondary dx coverage for cystitis is only $68. So I guess I'm trying to decide if I should send everything up until the xray as one claim, cystitis and then everything from the xray on as a second claim, surgical urolithiasis, or send it all at once. Of course the customer service center is closed right now so I can't call and try to get it straightened out. Anyone have much experience filing claims with VPI? Probably I'm making this harder than it needs to be Kel |

Can your vet give you some guidance as to whether the stone is the result of the cystitis, or whether it's unrelated? Seems to me that would differentiate primary from secondary. And your vet could document that with a statement in the medical record.
