Default recovery timeframe after spaying...?

my cat is getting spayed today. so needless to say, i'm a bit anxious about it.

anyways... i am going to pick her up from the vet tomorrow. i'm scheduled to go away this saturday to sunday. i'm wondering if i should cancel the trip? i'm a bit apprehensive about leaving my cat at home during her recovery -- should i stay home from work as well...?

When I had Toodles spayed, it took her about a week to recover. For the first 2-3 days at home, she pretty well stayed in her bed and away from everyone in the house. She only came out of her bed to eat/drink and use the litter box. You have to keep watch on the incision, watching for bleeding, drainage, any sign of infection. Also, you have to make sure she isnt chewing on her stitches. I think 10 days post op is when the vet took Toodles stitches out. (Someone correct me if Im wrong.)

As for staying at home with her, I think you need to check on her (or have someone do it for you) several times during the day for the first few days. Those first few days, shes not gonna feel like doing too much anyway.

Wish I could be of more help, maybe someone will have some more words of wisdom.

is there anyone who you can really trust to look after her? If not then I would recommend staying home. I cancelled a trip before when Willis had a bout of stryuvite crystals in his bladder because I knew I would just spend the whole time worrying about him and not enjoying myself.

How is your baby doing? Did the surgery go well?
