I looked at Titch and Smidge photos on the gallery and they are beautiful torties. I've always had a special love for torties, they are such characters and very loyal and loving. I'm glad you're going to get them spayed as it will be best for them, and you.

Hey all !
Was getting things out the way, like treating for conjuctivitis and fleas and worms from previous owner out the way first.......and so tomorrow will be booking my 2, one year olds in to be spayed. Any advice you can give would be welcome. They are house cats. They will be kept in vets for 1 night ? Do i get the 2 done at same time ? Will it change their personality/behaviour longterm ? Do i have to stop them running around, pulling at stitches etc ? Anything else i havent thought of ? (Overly Worried and loving owner that doesnt want to take them to the vet for this but knows i have to !) |

Take them in together.
When I took my two girls in I took them together, different kennels though just to be safe. I booked th day after off work and stayed home to baby them. Don't let them mess with the stiches, other than that they should be fine. They likely won't feel up to running around or wrestling, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. If you don't have to leave them at the vets overnight, don't. Ask the vet if someone will be with them all night, if not take them home. Even if someone will be with them it's better to take them home if you can. Cats are homebodies and they'll feel safer and more secure at home. In any case if they wake up from sedation ok there's no real reason they need to stay at the vets. Just keep an eye on them that night, check on them during the night a few times, and if anything weird is going on you can take them back. IMO it would be way more stressful, and therefore less restful/safe, for them to be at the vet all night. Of course if something goes wrong during surgery that's another story, but as long as the surgery goes well I'd bring them home that day.
