Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I initially joined because I wanted to discuss cat food options with people in the know, but I'm certainly interested in participating in other cat-related discussions too. I have two cats, Zephyr and Maisie, both males. Zephyr is a six year old black and white shorthair, and Maisie is a seven year old white and grey shorthair. The cats and I recently moved to the United States from Canada. So, that's my intro, I guess. I look forward to getting to know you guys. |

Welcome to the forum, Blakeney...and welcome to the USA! This is a great place for info about all subjects (the forum AND the USA!) =D. There is a particularily interesting discussion going on now about how much food is bought at one time. Some have even talked about on line stores that I want to check out, too! Hope you enjoy your visits here.

Welcome to the Forum from someone still in Canada! With your move to the U.S., you'll certainly have more food options available to you. Whenever I visit the U.S., I try to go to a pet store, and I'm like a kid in a candy shop. You can now also buy online without having to pay a half billion dollars in shipping fees!

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!
I've definitely noticed a difference in the variety of available pet food here - it's great, but it's somewhat overwhelming! And yeah, less expensive. Vet care is also considerably less costly, as I discovered yesterday when Maisie had to be treated for urinary issues. I'm actually originally a US citizen, but I moved to Canada for a graduate program and then got a job and stayed. When that job got downsized, I made the difficult decision (I really liked living in Canada) to move back because the job prospects were better in a country where I am a citizen rather than just a resident. Both of my cats were born in Canada. I got Zephyr from the SPCA shelter when he was a kitten, and Maisie was a stray that a coworker found and rehomed to me. My family always had cats when I was growing up, but these two are the first/only cats I've ever had that were just mine. I couldn't live without them! These are my boys: ![]() (Zephyr is on the right, Maisie is on the left.) The two cats are very bonded to each other; they act just like littermates. They squabble, as brothers do, and then two minutes later they're curled up on the couch together. |
