Some of you may have been reading my thread where I needed help choosing between two kitties I found at Animal Conrol. Overwhelmingly the concensus was to choose the grey sad looking kitty, which I did. Her adoption photo really made her quite ratty looking and certainly would not have throngs of people willing to give her a chance. Well it's been a little over 24 hours since we came home and I have to say I am SO pleased with her. She is a tad timid when she sees the other cats, but not aggressive. She stands her ground then hides. That is great. I'd much rather have hiding than attacking. In time it will all be fine. Plus we have had not more instances of nipping (knock on wood).
She is the sweetest thing and just wants to snuggle and sit on your lap. She prefers doing that over exploring (I've put up a baby gate to keep everyone else downstairs) while she explores upstairs. Here are a few pics since she brushed up so nicely. Spa day is Sunday, but I think she looks pretty good so far. I can't get a very good pic of her face though but you can see her coloring which is an interesting shade of tawny and grey. You can also see she enjoys the view. She seems quite happy. She's much prettier than the adoption pic gives her credit for!
I love the subtle color changes in her fur. Sent from my iPhone using Petguide.com Free App |

Oh yay! I read your previous post, and although Wiskers was a doll, (I am partial to tuxedos) I would have gone with Lacey as well. She is beautiful and is probably so happy to have a new home with a BEAUTIFUL view of a lake!! I am sure she will enjoy much time at the window watching the wildlife!
Good luck with introductions!! Can't wait to see that beauty after spa day!

Thanks all! She is settling in quite nicely. She still has to make some introductions of the other cats, but I don't think that will painful. I gave her free roam of the upstairs yesterday and blocked the stairs with a baby gate to keep her separated. I didn't have thoughts of instant cuddling and acceptance when she saw one of the other cats, but she just she hissed then walked away - exactly what I was hoping for. I'm always nervous when bringing in someone new but this is very acceptable behavior to start with. At least she is not aggressive.
She was a stray for several weeks that people fed and someone finally turned her over to Animal Control. She'd been there about 2 weeks when I found her - not long thankfully. Grrawritsjordi - I am VERY partial to tuxedos too, but I'm very glad I chose Lacey. I don't think I could have found a sweeter cat with a more unattractive face! Her face looks exactly like her adoption photo on top and I am growing to just love it more each day. I know we will have many happy years together here! The tuxedo will be adopted, it was just too cute!

You know it's forever when you order the pet tags!! I'm going to buy a lottery ticket today because I'm feeling SO lucky to have found this little muffin!
