vet told me the same thing, clumping litter is dangerous when injested. it's actually no more work. i still scoop out hard stuff, and change once a week. they seem to really like the larger texture, anyway.
Clumping litter can be dangerous for kittens but an adult must injest a whole lot of litter to get sick and adult cats normally don“t eat litter. The litter that gets stuck in the fur is not enough to harm a healthy cat.
