I worked in a wood shop that was in the far corner of a large warehouse at the opposite end from the offices and I was often wearing hearing protection and when the designers would come out instead of waiting at the entrance of the shop for me to notice them they'd holler at me.
I stuck up mirror tile in various places on the wall and arranged my work so that I was facing the entrance instead of having my back to it.

I do not miss working in an office environment! When you are concentrating, there's nothing worse than having the crap scared out of you by a co-worker!

HAHAH ssscats!

Well, I have the mirror on the desk now. It sorta works but only if I move my eyes from the screen. It also doesn't work well if I have my head down to look at a piece of paper. Sigh. I must find that perfect angle!

I wish I had a desk with a wall behind me. It's kinda nerve wracking when you're concentrating on something and these ppl just come up to you and start talking. It's much better when they have keys in their pockets or they stomp when they walk. Although it's a select few and I love cats, I really dislike the ones who walk like a cat!

I agree!!! I have my own office, but one of my coworkers is silent when he walks! He has come into my office when my head was down looking at paper, I look up and jump a mile, there's good ole John standing there lol.

My husband is a quiet walker too, he's quieter than a mouse lol. I have NO idea how he does it lol, it's not like he's a little guy (300+ lbs) lol. He sneaked up on my niece once at the bookstore, I heard her squeal from the other side of the room lol.

Wow, your husband is quite talented!

Does your co worker John sneak up and then just stand there in silence while he waits for you to notice he's there? Oh I absolutely abhor that! I have one that not only does that but after you turn around to look at him, he actually stares until you start talking to him. How creepy is that?! Lucky I got the mirror now so I got a heads up.

About the one who comes up and waits for you to notice...He probably thinks he's being courteous, not wanting to interrupt what you are doing. You might tell him that you would prefer he say somthing like your name or "excuse me?" instead of just standing there. Now the staring at you is a bit weird...

Oh no that's not his intention. This is one reason why I think guys are annoying. I work with a 90% male population and trust me, no matter what age, they can be very immature. This guy has kids in university so you imagine his age. He thinks it's funny when I get upset/mad. I really don't understand why guys think this is amusing. He's not the only one that consistently yanks my chain. It's very hard, but I think the best method is to give him no reaction/ignore him.

Nope, I have an "S-1" space and a plant.

You know you've made it here when you get to the job grade where they give you a plant.

Non-company plants are banned. They, like cubicle dwellers, carry diseases.
