It just seems so different to here in Wales - we send a bigger percentage (compared to our population) of young people (both men and women these days) to the armed forces than any other part of the UK and, in general they are treated with great respect.

This was the first Veteran's Day where there wasn't a living WWI survivor. Time passes but a solider's sacrifices are not diminshed. I thank you all (including my hubby and step-daughter who were both in the AF).
Builder I am sorry that you were drafted in the war. My brother was as well. I was about 7 when he came home and I still remember the 60 foot Christmas tree that we had in the front lawn so that we could celebrate the Christmas' that he had missed. It wasn't until I was older that I understood that not all returning vets had the same experience. May I say now to you Welcome Home, and thank you.

People should realize that it wasn’t the fault of 18 yr old kids that were lied to and told they were fighting for their country. They had no knowledge of things outside their own little worlds and were powerless to do anything about it. I never learned what it was really about until many years later and a lot of kids died for no reason while older entrepreneurs made huge fortunes in defense contracts. |
