^^^^^THIS^^^^^

I just really wish people would get over that fact that Obama won the election. I saddens me that, in this day and age, racism is still out there. After four years, it should not matter if Obama is black, red, green or purple. So why label him? He's the president who happens to be black. It's not newsworthy anymore.

There was a lot of talk about it on talk radio and it is just roomers started by angry people. There is strength in numbers and unity, so I doubt that it will ever happen.

Apparently using our brains is overrated now.. it's like simple weighing the pros and cons.... Do we wanna secede because our president is black and we think he's a Muslim???? Or do we not secede and get over it because we would lose all funding and resources, possibly start a civil war on our own grounds where millions of innocent people would probably die and we would be burned to the ground either by the US or another foreign country, and the possibility of that foreign country taking us over like hitler and the US giving us the finger when we asked for help because we left them. LET'S SEE which option would you all pick??? Option 1 or 2?? I really hope you all are right.... All this crazed non sense after this election is to much.... Maybe people want to secede simply because they don't like the direction the country is going? Obama's certainly not perfect. He's made some major errors in policy and judgement iMHO. I know I'm not a fan of the Nanny State as are a great many others. It has nothing to do with the melatonin content of any candidate's skin.

Why does the argument always devolve into a debate about racism?

Back in the day, Japan was afraid to invade mainland US because as Admiral Yamato put it, "There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass." Granted times are different now and most US citizens nowadays are more concerned about where the cheapest beer is in town or what the Cardassians are up to this week. I seriously doubt the majority would rise up in defense of the US, particularly if the invaders promised free stuff.

Still, an invasion of a sovereign Texas would be a bloody affair IMHO. Very costly in any way you'd care to measure it. The Federal Government would eventually prevail, probably aided by UN "peacekeepers."

But no, the Feds won't allow any state to peacefully secede and most Texans wouldn't go for it, so it's a moot point.

In the US he would have been branded a lazy moocher by the GOP once he needed any help from the government. Now as a US citizen, we pay more % taxes than Romney (at least what we know of ) or Paris Hilton, but don't get the medical benefits if we were to need it.
Disclaimer: I vote independent and generally vote for 3rd party canidates.

I have never heard my GOP friends or most canidates say that we should do away with the government saftey net. People who say otherwise are buying into the fear mongering of partisan politics.

No one can really deny that there is a non-trival amount of people who take from the system without paying their dues. This goes for the rich and the poor. This is what people generally take out of context.

I am assuming that people, like your father, have paid their taxes and have been unable to work for a short amount of time. We should take care of him.

Many of the people I know who lean to the right want to take care of people, and get them back on track and be productive members of society, not keep giving them hand outs with no strings attached for the rest of their lives. This, again, is what people take out of context.

Some may not like the way the country is going but seriously who does?? But can you do anything about it?? No... Unless your apart of congress and even then you are limited. But let's be honest here.... You think if Romney won... Florida and Cali would be trying to secede right now??? Instead of Texas because Obama is president again?? No.... Ultimately yea some people don't like the way we are headed but to secede is a dumb move and the other half of it is about race... If Obama was say I don't know.... Another Bush..... Would Texas still be trying to secede?? NO.... Like someone said in here it's closeted racism and people don't like to admit it.... And it's SAD.... Pigs will fly when race doesn't matter to anyone anymore....

As far as this MJ issue.... If people threw out their religious or personal views about it... It would be legal everywhere. I don't care how many times someone can say well "it's wrong and it shouldn't be legalized"..... Yea ok remember alcohol??!! It's the SAME thing... Millions of people do it regardless of what the law says. Make it legal, tax the cr*p out of it and make money to help us get out of the hole we are in! It's that simple! And even worse is its not like its a man made substance like alcohol is or any other drug. It's a plant people.... It grows out of the ground just like anything else natural does. There's no reason it shouldn't be legal. People have a skewed misconception of it because of various reasons. And they are to stubborn to step back and re evaluate what it actually is. I don't even smoke it and I believe this. Like I said in my other posts no one weighs the pros and cons of anything anymore. We could make BILLIONS off taxing MJ just like we do alcohol. Someone told me the other day that in Colorado there is more medical MJ dispensaries than there are Starbucks!! and I don't doubt that....

I agree. I didn't vote for Obama, and it wasn't because of his racial and ethnic background. It was because I don't agree with his policies, was unqualified to run as president and has been an epic failure as president. Some go as far as to call him Bush's 3rd and 4th terms.

You mean, provide a safety net and not a hammock? That's just crazy talk right there.

I firmly believe we have a moral obligation to help our fellow man. And as a free people, we should have the freedom to choose who, and how much, we help. It really isn't charity if .gov has a gun to your head, is it?

And the last time I looked, "solve" and "problem" don't appear anywhere in the Constitution.

Tell me, is it racism when over 90% of black Americans vote for Obama?

Or can only those who have less melatonin in their skin be racists?

I wouldn't mind legalizing pot as long as the tax money was set aside to help those who suffer from adverse reactions to long term use, e.g., don't ask me to pay for your fun. And then to, I'd like to see a quick roadside test developed to check those who are DUI from pot. They should be held just as accountable as drunk drivers.

I don't necessarily support Obama and his policies either but I don't think Romney was any better of a candidate. To me it was like this... Well which poopy end of the stick do we want and a lot of people that I know said well why would we give Bush 8 years and not Obama.... For me the fact Romneys home state where he was Governor didn't vote for him said something itself. He got shut out really.... But that's just me...

And the other part of it is why would we let someone new in who's not any better and let them screw it up more and worry about their next campaign in two years instead of our economy?? I say let Obama try to fix his mistakes to the end since he can't get another presidency... He's got his feet wet and now he can try to fix it verses letting someone new in to screw the whole thing over more.... That's the way I thought about this election

No no no... I'm not saying its only whites who are racists.... I say it's pretty much equal on both sides.... And yea 80 percent of them voted for Obama of the only 13 percent who did vote. To me that's inaccurate to say but yes it is coming from both sides.... Sadly
