How have you all been dealing with Hostess going out of business? Have people been buying out Hostess products from your stores and selling them at unreasonable prices online too?
I don't crave Twinkies but funny thing is the second they are no longer available... I think it's time to go find a generic Twinkie. I really hope someone buys the Hostess Twinkie recipe and they begin production again!

Ya I heard rants about the unions demanding too much so the company said were closing down. Maybe its a temporary thing to make a point to the unions????

I haven't bought the Hostess brand in years, WAY overpriced. There are tons of the same thing for a lot less.

A true instance of pure corporate greed. They'd rather go out of business than pay their employees a fair wage. I'm certain another company will buy out the brand and it will go on.
That said, other than those people's jobs I don't feel any more sorry about Hostess going out of business than I would to see Fancy Feast go out of business. |

This was the second time they are going to file bankruptcy. The Teamsters union advised the Bakers union to take the deal and they didn't. It's not corporate greed; it's a product that is not selling like it used to because people are more health conscious. They will probably sell off part of the business to another company.

Mike Hummell, a receiving clerk and a member of the Bakers' union working in Lenexa, Kan., said he was making about $48,000 in 2005 before the company's first trip through bankruptcy. Concessions during that reorganization cut his pay to $34,000 last year, earning $16.12 an hour. He said the latest contract demands would have cut his pay to about $25,000, with significantly higher out-of-pocket expenses for insurance.
$48K a year for a receiving clerk? His $34K pay is even on the really high end for the skill set required for this kind of job, but if he has a lot of years I can see it. I understand the resistance to being cut to $25K, it is really low. But a big part of the problem is that they were way overpaid to begin with.

I've never eaten a twinkie, the thing looks gross. I don't understand the people buying them up either, there's obviously a market for them still so some company is either going to buy the recipe or there's going to be a similar product at half the price (if there isn't already) on shelves soon.
