Depends on how far you are going. I work 3 miles from my apartment, so it isn't too bad. There aren't many bike lanes here so most people ride on the sidewalk. I was very much against that back home but everyone in LA drives, so there are so many more people on the roads.

This area could definitely benefit from a better train system.

Zilla, I didn’t mean to scare you, I think you will be fine especially if your husband is from California and probably has friends and family here.

When I came here, my greyhound bus dropped my friend and I off in downtown LA at midnight. We did not know anybody and it was the shock of our lives. Suddenly we realized that the “City Of Angles” didn’t mean the kind of Angles we were expecting. I was pretty street smart from growing up in Pittsburgh, so we managed to make our way to safer grounds.

There’s crime everywhere and you just have to always be aware.

Anyone living in Cali can you answer why in the heck are GERBILS illegal in Cali??? I just saw this somewhere because I was thinking about getting another gerbil or a mouse and I find that it's against the law to own a gerbil in Cali.... What is up with that??? Ferrets too??? This just seems totally ridiculous to me it's a GERBIL... Basic beginner pet....

This is a question a lot of people are asking. My coworker is allergic to cats so he became attached to Ferrets as pets, but when he ended up getting a job here, he had to give them up. it has been very hard on him and his only relief is watching YouTube videos of them.
I heard that Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger almost signed a bill to make them legal, but it didn’t happen and I don’t know why.

A good thing about living in California is they have very good, very active rescue groups. A dear friend of mine from LA was very active in Best Friends Campaign to close down pet stores from selling dogs from Puppy Mills. She now just moved to SF to work on the Google campus and is going to be volunteering with rescues there! Who ever she volunteers with will be very lucky to get her!

Bloom where you are planted! Ive lived all over the US. Each place I lived I came away with great friends and experiences which enhanced my life. Look at this as an adventure. Best of luck in California!
