Default Co-Worker's Baby Shower...how much $

I have a co-worker who is having a baby shower next week. I plan to give some money to another co-worker so several of us can all buy her something. How much do you think is appropriate? This is her first baby.
I only gave $5 for a supervisor's retirement gift recently, but I know I want to give more than that.
The thing is, money is tight since we are only on my income, but I do want her to get some nice things for her shower. Would $15 be an okay amount?

I think $15 is very generous. I'm sure that will be fine. You can only give as much as you feel comfortable doing, being on a tight budget. If it were me, I'd probably only give $10...but then again, that's all my budget would allow for right now.

I don't know about you. If I were you, I would probably start looking for any baby stuff that is 75% off. 15 dollars could actually buy a decent baby outfit.

I agree that $15 is a generous amount.

I also think $15 is fine.

I think 15.00 is very fine and it sounds like you folks are going together on a gift so personally, I think 5.00 or 10.00 would be fine too. Do what you can afford.

well it totally depends on how many of you are going in on a gift. 10 of you giving $15 each would be a great gift. Usually people figure out how many want to give money and come up with some ideas and then divide it up from there. I think $10-20 would be the norm people would be expected to pitch in, so I think your $15 is fine.
It's nice being able to have several people go in on a present, especaily when you don't have much to spend.

Also, an idea for those that might not have money for things like this (heck for any event such as bday or whatever) you can always donate your services--- driving, massage, babysitting, shopping. You can make coupons for each thing you are giving. It can be a really welcome gift!

There are quite a lot of us who work together. I figure some people will buy individual gifts and some people will go in together to buy things.
I may tell her to register for more things though! She only registered for 30 items and only a few are "big ticket" items. Most people I know go hog wild and register for anything and everything!

I think $15 is excellent! I think it's more than many people donate. My kind and generous co-workers got together and threw me a baby shower at which I received a $200 gift card to Babies R Us. It was awesome!

I have to agree with the majority here. $15 is fine, but even if that's too much for a budget, $10 is fine also. Especially if your going in with other people. Does she know what the baby is going to be??
