What is "condensed" milk?
|
Condensed milk is processed milk with most of the water removed and a sweetener added. It is very thick, almost a syrup.
With my 4 kits, at 16 days old, I used a 12oz can of KMR, but at $8/can it is just too expensive.
I then mixed up the Condensed milk formula and it worked ok but it seemed too sweet.
I then mixed this formula, which worked well.

My kitten formula
4oz water
12oz whole evaporated milk (1 can)
2 large egg yolks.
1 tablespoon clear Karo syrup

I'm now using Kitten Glop.
Home-made kitten formula (Kitten Glop)
8 ounces water (boiled then cooled)
1 envelope Knox unflavored gelatin
8 ounces whole evaporated milk (not skim)
2 tablespoons mayonnaise (not low fat)
2 tablespoons plain yogurt (not low fat)
1 large or 2 small eggs yolks (raw)
1 teaspoon clear Karo syrup
* 1-3 drops liquid pet vitamins
* 1 capsule acidophilus
* 1 drop Grapefruit Seed Extract (GSE)
* Optional, though very beneficial.
My kits eat every thing and we have not had any problems so far.
This morning I reintroduced the kits to their (recently captured) mother.
I hop this works out. Bottle feeding kits is very time consuming and she has more time then I do..
