Does anyone have any suggestions on giving your cat live plants? I believe it is an essential part of their diet, but I am not sure what the best route is. I saw those little grass seed kits at the pet store, but they contain vermiculite (a known carcinogen

All cat grass seed is is wheat, barley or oat seed. You can buy it for cheaper in a little seed packet at a garden shop or get some for a whole lot cheaper at a feed mill (just make sure it is the kind thats for animals to eat and will grow, not the kind made for planting which might be treated with chemicals)

I have a friend who loves both cats and plants and he gave me nepeta cataria seeds... I planted them, but i don't know if they are growing yet!!
Here it is some info about nepeta cataria. Anyway, my cats love wheat buds. We have a pot with them and the oldest of my cats always eat it. |
