I was hoping for a reply to your question as my cats have CRF too. I will ask that question at a CRF forum. You should really join it. Go to felinecrf.com and click on the Yahoo link at the bottom of the page though I'm not sure what page it is on. Also felinecrf.org is a great site too.

Dr Lisa Pierson has a number of home made raw food recipes on her website that a number of my friends use (they have diabetic cats with CRF). Google her name and a few key words related to this topic and you will see a lot of useful info.

There are several stages of renal disease. Before starting your cat on a homemade diet (or any renal diet for that matter) you MUST find out what stage he is in from your vet. Your cat's lab work will tell the vet what stage he/she is in so you can make the best choice. Different foods are perfectly fine in one stage but literally can be the opposite in the next stage and not given. GL B
