Default Need help making dried out meat treats.

I don't want to get in to dehydrators and stuff. Is there something I can do to just dry out some cooked chicken and store it, or will it spoil if not dehydrated?

I just want an easy way to make stuff. - does one exist?

I saw a one line explanation the other day when I was researching just this thing. The person suggested you put things on a flat tray/rack in the refrigerator. I assume they meant a "frost-less" one. I don't remember how long they suggested to leave the treats. Personally I'd still be worried about spoilage if there was raw eggs/meat etc. in them. But there may be more info on the net regarding this method of drying. GL B

Just ran into that thread again. It's called "Training Treats" and the author is Petspy (or something like that). It's located further down in this forum GL B

If you're not opposed to raw stuff, I take beef heart and slice it finely then cut into "treat sized" pieces... lay them flat on a tray in my fridge until they dry out. Store in the fridge.

I watched an episode of Good Eats with Alton Brown where he dehydrated some food. Here's a video of it... uses air filters and a box fan!

Since I now have to watch sugar and salt I decided I'm making my own jerky/dried fruit. I was alerted to this special:
Amazon.com: Nesco American Harvest FD-37 400 Watt Food Dehydrator: Kitchen & Dining Amazon.com: Nesco American Harvest FD-37 400 Watt Food Dehydrator: Kitchen & Dining
so I decided to go ahead with it. I've still got enough time on my amazon prime account to get it 2 day free shipping......
