Default Mouseburger Bites

Mouseburger Bites

3 oz sausage meat or finely ground beef
2 tbsp oatmeal
1 egg, to bind
whisker of catnip, finely chopped

Knead the ingredients together very thoroughly and form into a flat oval. Broil under a medium heat for 5-7 minutes, turning frequently, until the outside is crisp. Wait until cool, then slice into bite-sized chunks.
Serves one

Hey, Lexxie, substitute celery and onions for the catnip and you have meatloaf for us! I love the title "mouseburgers." I know my cats love ground beef, so they'd love them.

What's funny is that on occasion, when my one of my cats wants to sleep near my face I often tell them they have mouse breath, even though that's not possible!

Why do cats like beef? It's not like a cat is gonna go running across a field and attack a cow or anything. I guess it just seems a little weird when you think about it.

You have a sense of humor like mine! I'm still trying to picture that tiger getting a sip of milk from a cow, and now you have a cat stalking a cow......rotfl

Maybe it's an acquired taste, like olives! My cats like ham the best, I think. Now, there's a picture for you---pigburgers.

I guess it's the same thing with all the special kinds of protein that go into cat food now like ostrich and kangaroo. I guess cats are not as picky as we once were lead to believe.... The mystery of our four legged friends deepen further.....

Getting back on track here, that's a good recipe since it doesn't require many ingredients(my head hurts when I try to make something complicated) and you already have the stuff on hand. Now I know what to do with the left overs.

I love that it calls for a "whisker" of catnip! How appropriate, I wouldn't want to call it anything else.

I just saw this recipe and I will definitely try it for Twinkie b/c Sugar always throws up when she eats something different. She gets canned food often so she's not totally deprived. Twinkie can eat anything so I will one day broil him some mouseburgers! Thanks
