It's been talked about here dating back to 2009.

Tabbys Place is so wonderful isnt it. A rescue that takes on special needs cats has my total admiration. The facility is beautiful also! Did you look thru their videos too?

I just looked at this site and it's amazing what they do. Here is a link to their videos on YouTube.

The place seems freakishly tidy (and with hardwood floors?!) for a cat sanctuary, I mean, you can tidy and tidy but if you have a few hundred cats your work is never done... how many cats does it house?

If my knowledge is correct, cat sanctuary is different than cat rescue. To surrender your cat to sanctuary, you need to pay them a large amount, ranging from $1200(lowest I ever know)-$3000/4000, something like that. A sanctuary is not in a rush to have their cats adopted, unless they find a perfect match. They wouldn't mind keeping their cats for life. So you really cannot compare a cat sanctuary with a regular rescue. If everyone has to pay thousands to get their cat into a rescue, I bet we will see a whole lot more strays...

It always breaks my heart to see cats (and dogs) come into the shelter 'orphaned' due to their human parents going into retirement homes, passing away, or other terminal illnesses. The cats are less likely to be adopted, so I've often though I'd love to own land and have a pet retirement home. It would need a large sum, like yingying mentioned to feed/care for them.

I wasnt aware Tabbys Place aske for large amount of money to place to special needs cat there. My phone wont let me open the url to read thru and see if that is their policy.
I know that is not the policy of Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. They adoptdont out even special needs. The wood looking floor could be a laminate which would make sence.
