Good animal rights organization? Saving abandoned animals is only a part of their program. Their final goal is elimination of all animal ownership. Thus, to end the 'slavery'. Do not pay them a penny and watch for your legislators you can vote for or against.

Here is what one of their leaders thinks:
“I don’t have a hands-on fondness for animals…To this day I don’t feel bonded to any non-human animal. I like them and I pet them and I’m kind to them, but there’s no special bond between me and other animals.” Wayne Pacelle quoted in Bloodties: Nature, Culture and the Hunt by Ted Kerasote, 1993, p. 251.

Are you a real catman? I am a dogman, but I would like our cats to thrive as well as dogs.
Look, what you are working for:
"The cat, like the dog, must disappear... We should cut the domestic cat free from our dominance by neutering, neutering, and more neutering, until our pathetic version of the cat ceases to exist." John Bryant, Fettered Kingdoms: An Examination of A Changing Ethic (Washington, DC: People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA), 1982, p. 15.

I am against the cruelty and honestly believe everyone should not abuse and cause suffeering of animals unnecessarily. However, animal rightists use kind feeling of pet owners to end their hobby altugether.

Animal abusers should go to prison for animal abusing. No kicking, daring to run over them for no reason or with reason.

Sorry for the off-topic-ness.

Heard of freerice.com? Well there are 2 sites that donate kibble to animal shelters for answering a simple trivia question each day.

www.freekibble.com < http://www.freekibble.com >

www.freekibblekat.com < http://www.freekibblekat.com >

Each answer earns 20 pieces of kibble for distribution to animal shelters.

GREAT CAUSE!! and it was developed by a 12 yr old girl!

2) Use a search engine (this one powered by Yahoo) that donates money to the charity of your choice each time you search at:
http://www.goodsearch.com

3) Donate money to local shelters, some have websites with paypal links letting you donate at the click of a button!

4) Volunteer at your local shelter(s), if one has a long wait list, try other shelters, often there will be at least one willing to take someone right away!

5) Inquire at local shelters about fundraisers and how you can help. e.g. some have rummage sales, so get out your old stuff and donate it to a good cause!

6) Buy your pet supplies from the shelters, the proceeds go back to them!

7) Be a foster mommy or daddy.

8. Sponsor an animal at your local shelter.

9) Call the shelters about anything at all they may be collecting for cash (recyclables, cell phones, etc.) and bring in your trash for cash for the shelter!
