These are step by step instructions for finding a missing cat:
http://www.petrescue.com/library/find-pet.htm And more ideas: http://www.angelfire.com/ca/unitedcats/lostcat.html posted previously: Also, sit on the porch late at night, and I do mean late...when it's very quiet. Put out some great smelling catfood and one of your sweaty shirts near the house or on the porch. Sit still and call him on occasion, not too loudly. Often they're quite close to home, and their sense of smell and hearing will bring them out of hiding when it's dark and quiet. You can light a candle, but don't put on the porch light. They don't need it, of course.

Oh how heart breaking - I am so sorry for such a tragic loss - I know your baby is resting in peace now and watching over you from somewhere over the rainbow
*hugs*

What if your kitty has been missing for over 2 and half years. You've been searching for him since the day he dissappeared, called out to him everyday and night. Have put up Missing Cat posters and re-putting them up when they get torn down the very next day. Have continously checked the animal shelter and still no kitty?
::sighs:: He isn't even microchipped, he's neutered but not chipped. I think he was stolen, but I had and still have no clue as to whom might have him. And I haven't lived in the apartment where he disappeared for at least a year and a few months. Out of all the kittys that have vanished on me, I miss him the most and I feel the he was the one that actually didn't want to leave...I feel as if he was taken away against his will. I say that because of how his personally is. He's not a people cat...he only liked me and was terrified of everyone and everything else! Although, I guess it's always possible that his personality could have changed. Maybe he got lost and couldn't find his way home? I won't ever stop searching for Miles but I don't know if I'll ever find him. I don't even know if he's still alive. I've had many reaccurring dreams over the past 2 and half years about either Miles finding me or me finding him... ...although I've found him, in my dreams, he ends up vanishing again it's like I just can't hold onto him. I've had many cats disappear on me in my lifetime, about 4 of them...well 5 including Miles. And out of the 5...Miles is the only cat I continue to dwell on. Is there anything else I can do...even after so many years have gone by? I will check out those other links in the above posts...I just don't know what else to do. Here's a photo of my Miles, a son of Sarah and brother to Chloie and Fiskars:

Just adding another tip:
Write "Needs Medication" on the flyers you hang around the neighborhood--that way if someone did steal your cat they are more likely to give it back thinking that the cat is sick.
