Bone from Smelt

Can the bones from Smelt be used in the raw diet??

Not as a primary source of the 10% bone content, IMO. I feed whole sardines once a week, but I don't include those bones as part of my cats' 10% bone-in meals.

Are the smelt bones separated from the fish?

The bones are separated prior to cooking for us to eat.

In that case, I wouldn't feed 'em at all. There's not enough bone (I would think) to offer any real value, and feeding bones without some fleshy wrapping is generally not considered to be a good idea.

Just my opinion, though.
