There is an awesome post about what people feed every week but most of the post are not whole prey. I and I know others are working on switching from raw to whole prey. I thought it would be a good idea to have a list for all or mostly whole prey. Including the age or size of prey might help too.
I have some hopper mice and 1 week old quail ordered to start. thanks Kim |

I feed my cats 90% mice. Unless your cat is just starting out on whole prey, it's best to feed adult mice--large or XL. I feed mice probably 12/14 meals a week--the other meals are quail (dressed, not whole), venison, a little liver, etc. Just for variety.

Generally ...
70% small rats 30% frankenprey of chicken, beef, lamb, quail, fish Green tripe when I can buy it in small amounts. Rarely, other organs like testicle. Very rarely, a small can of grain-free wet food. Right now she's with a sitter for two weeks, so getting 50% rats, 50% half a dressed quail with a bit of beef liver packed in the cavity. I'm not pleased about about always feeding rats and quail from the same source, but that seems to be the best I can do right now. At times she's had a lot more variety; at other times, she's survived on canned salmon for several meals in a row. When I get home, I'll step up the game a bit, no pun intended. Kim, where did you find the week-old quail? |

Since I wrote this my Sasha had several days of vomiting and went off all food for awhile. Now she happily eats jumbo mice. I still have to cut them up and we call them meeses pieces because we're goofy. She loved her week old baby quail. I plan on trying to reintroduce her to beef soon.
As soon as I can I'll get a small freezer for just her food and add rabbit and Guinea Pig. Oh and my frozen prey source is Snake Food, Reptile Food, Feed Carnivores, Birds of Prey : Layne Labs.com I like them because 1) they are here on the west coast 2) the best prices I've been able to find and 3) They donate to zoos and animal rescue places |
