I rely on the changed piccies next to threads, and the thread's bolded text to find out if there's new posts, but quite often it's either just wrong or innaccurate.
For example, sometimes it'll mark a thread as having new posts when I was the last person to post in it a few days ago. Wassup wit it?

I've been having issues since we changed over. If I read a post, then scroll up and hit Forums, it still marks that post as unread. I have to go back into that section (behavior, for example), then go out again. I have to do this every single time. And if I make a new post, it marks it as an unread post. I figured I was the only person having this issue since nobody else has posted about it.

You know the big "noticboard" icon next to each section? You can double click on that to say you've "read all the posts." It then goes to the "empty" picture.
The problem is that it doesn't do this automatically when you have actually read all the new posts. EDIT: Also just remembered that quite often it DOESN'T mark new posts and threads as new, when I haven't seen them. I know they go to the "read" stage after a certain period of time, but none of the new posts from last night are showing as "unread".

I've noticed you have to navigate away from the page and then it's correct when you get back to it. If the client end is passing status data back to the host via a cookie to process, and the updated status passed back to the client via a cookie, it's always going to be one page load behind. That's my guess as to what's happening, and no, nothing's going to be done about it because the next version of vB is already out, but Yung said it's too buggy to use yet. This little thing can be lived with.
