That sounds very odd to me... I live about 30 mins away from the origen plant (they only have one) and it's a popular food around here. I haven't heard anything about it like that at all! It's really popular here because it's local, they use locl products too, so it's a big deal. You'd think if problems were to come up they'd be here.

There is ongoing discussion and much info/links on Itchmo forums.

Just as last year, there is also much anxiety, confusion and speculation. Reading that thread brought me right back to last March.

update from a cat breeder I'm in touch with from Sydney Australia;

I spent today at our annual feline health seminar and among other things the
issue of the Orijen was raised with one of the veterinary experts from the
University of Sydney. The latest news is that the problem with Orijen was
not caused by the radiation process which all important foods (pet or human)
are subjected to as part of the import requirements into Australia. Tests
are still being conducted on the dry food to determine the possible cause
but in all likelihood it is one of the ingredients used to make the dry
food. The product has been recalled from all sales outlets in Australia and I
expect that the manufacturers in Canada will issue a press release about
this when results of the tests become known.
