The Cat Genie---liter solution

I saw The Cat Genie on TV this morning and so went on line to check it out. It's a little expensive, so I am wondering if any of you have one or had one. What did you think.
Thanks, katzie

I've had one since December. It has some quirks, but overall it works well. There are costs involved; you must use their Sani-Solution cartridges, and they are chipped so you get exactly 60 uses out of each one. The CG will not run a cycle with an expired cartridge, so be sure you always have a spare. The litter granules track a lot too, but it's easy to sweep them up and dump them back into the CG.

Lots more info here:

After reading all I could on Cat Forum about the Cat Genie I have decided not to try it. Some of the reasons are that it tracks a fair amount, some cats don't take to it and having to buy all those chemicals all the time. Just thought some of you would like to see what I came up with. After all that information it seemed to me that scooping and changing liter weren't that bad after all.

I definitely think you should change your mind. My cat Nimbus loves the thing, and it really is simpler and less unpleasant than having to change litter. You barely even have to touch the thing. Plus it's more ecologically friendly, and nowadays I think that's an incredibly important thing. Litter takes up A LOT of landfill space, and doesn't biodegrade for a long time. The cat genie uses and reuses those plastic granules by sanitizing them (the solution by the way is non-toxic). And the granules really don't track any more than traditional litter does.

Hmm, I bet it won't be too long before someone hacks the electronics in those cartridges.
