Getting desparate--new home for Cooper

Well, I have tried many ideas--posting on Craigslist, Petfinder, at my local animal shelter, on here and no luck finding a new home for Cooper. If ANYONE can take him or knows someone who can take him, PLEASE let me know. I am running out of time and my only option will be a shelter. He is a sweet and loving cat--completely litterbox trained (never has he had an accident), declawed in front, neutered, up-to-date on shots, loves toys and treats.

I know that it is not anyone else's responsibility to give him a home, but if you can, please let me know.

Could you possibly have someone foster him for a year, until you can get out of your lease? You could pay for his food and litter, and maybe a rescue person or a broke cat lover who cannot afford another cat would then be enabled to take care of him. Just a suggestion, maybe you have tried that already.

You may also be able to break the lease legally if you find some loophole in the condition of the apartment. I know here in California, being infested by roaches or ants would be enough to break a lease legally, maybe you could find something similar. Here is a link I found that applies specially to Indiana: http://www.ohiolandlordtenant.com/getout.html

Hope this help and you can either find Cooper a great home, or move out and find a great home for yourself and the cats! (how is your other kitty doing?)

Have you tried a no kill cat rescue? There are a couple around where I live that are in store fronts and usually accept drop offs, though you have to pay a small fee, like $50, for owner turn ins.

ETA: Am I crazy, or did it change k-i-l-l to love? Ahh! That makes it sound like I am recommending a place where they don't love cats!

I continue to ask people that I know but I'm running out of options myself. Good luck getting him a home and I wish I could help more.

I know! I was horrified when I read back over that.

And lilaccat, I am really sorry about your troubles. I wish I lived close to you or could help in some way.
