Cat Urine: Couches

HI all!

our eddie never peed on anything for three years.
then we moved to a place with more space and we got 2 couches.
he peed on one and we natures miracle-d it to death, removed the covers to soak them and rinse out/dry everything etc.

he didn't do it again, and then recently he did it on the 2nd couch (about 3-4 months apart) the couches don't match so it isn't the material. he's been to the vet.

is there anything we can do to keep him off once we clean this one?

thanks!

If you come up with a good way to clean couches, would you let me know? I've tried about 6 different products on our couch that Rookie peed on . . . and now it just smells like those products, combined with a ilttle pee. I've kind of given up.

I don't know if your cat would fall for this, but Rookie stopped going up there when we took the couch pillows and put them on the edge, pointing diagonally out. She saw those points sticking out as a barrier, I think. She's also a fraidy-cat, so your cat might not be deterred by that.

I thought I'd post this on cleaning (not sure how to make sure he stops). This is for mattress'...but maybe it would work on a couch too?

Last year I got an electric blanket. I put it on my bed and that night was overwhelmed by the smell of pee. I hadn't realized that for YEARS kitty has been peeing little bits on the bed (she's old). Also, the worst smell was coming from a spot that I HAD cleaned and thought was good from when my niece stayed over. Either way, I followed the instructions in the link above to the letter and my mattress has never looked better. It really was amazing...but also a TON of work.
