Update on Melle

His blood sugars are still really high[600's] but I have started blood glucose monitoring at home and have done a couple of curves[bg's every 2 hours x12hrs] and the insulin is bringing him down but not for long enough,he is up to 4units twice a day He is being so very tolerent of all the picks and pokes-he sits every morning waiting for his shots, but I know this is taking a terrible toll on him he hides a lot and doesn't like to be touched.I still have confidence that we will beat this-there is a forum for diabetic cats and they are all so helpful and knowledgeable and I have learned so much and know more about my options now -so please keep Melle in your thoughts and prayers, he deserves to survive.

I agree. Here's a prayer for your Melle.

He's so lucky to have you!
I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet but it seems to me there are different types of insulin. Several years ago my friend's cat was not reponding to the insulin and I think they changed the type she was using and it worked. I know with people there are short and long lasting insulins. Perhaps it's something to ask your vet?
