Am I the only crazy one who does this?

Do you announce your cats (and dogs, in my house) when they walk in the room? For example, Taz will wander into the living room and my husband and I will yell "Taz". We also do it if we walk into a room where one of the kids is hanging out.

I feel like we live at the bar in Cheers .

Yes, Leazie. You're the only one. But the visual gave me a good laugh and I needed one!

I acknowledge each cat when they walk into the room, I talk to them, but there's no "NORM!" stuff going on.

Oh, I highly doubt you're the only one. I'll be people on this Forum have crazy things they do when their cats walk into the room.

I was just picturing myself yelling "Cinderella" when she walked into the room. It would probably scare the crap out of her and I wouldn't see her for the rest of the night!

Our kids expect it now. I think they get offended if we don't do it.

You're "almost" not the only one. I don't announce it to everyone else, like yelling "NORM!", but I do acknowledge each cat's presence as he enters the room, more like a personal greeting to that particular cat. Each name is sort of an exclamation, like "RobbieBOBBIE!" or "BrrrrUCE!" or "Chica BananaRAMA!", as if I haven't seen them in three years.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.

I don't do a "NORM!", but I do a "Hey, Sweetie Buns" every time she walks in. This could happen 20 times in an evening. I think I read somewhere that cats like it when you acknowledge their presence, so that must be why I picked it up.

i do that sometimes, i dont yell it out but I do acknowledge them. We always talk to our kitties. Every time I go to the kitchen I have to yell for Miss Chloe and ask her if she wants to "look in the fridge" and she comes bouncing in and talks up a storm.

When Arianwen walks in to a room I give her a little cat trill, which she does back. Or sometimes she'll trill to me first and then I'll answer her.

I always greet Toby when he comes in a room- usually its 'Hi Tob' or 'Hi Cutie Pie'. Nine times out of ten he is on his way over to sit on me of course
