Newbie question for kittens

Hi there cat lovers, I knew I could find a cat forum on the web.

We just got two kittens yeasterday, they are 6 weeks old and were eating soft foods. We would like to know from cat owners (we checked the web and different anwsers pop-up) how much and what type of food you would feed a 6 week old kitten, one is a female and one is a male. We are feeding them softer foods right now and twice a day, but before too long we want to know exactly how much and if we should start them on hard asap or mix?

Thanks in advance!

Derek

Welcome! You will find all kinds of advice and ideas here, as well as a nice community.

I think you will find the general consensus on the forum here is that wet food is better for your kitties' health than dry food. You can pop into the Health & Nutrition forum for all kinds of ideas and discussions of brands and flavors to try, but in the meantime, here is thread with info on WHY wet food is better:

Info. & Links on why canned is better than all dry diet

Congrats on the new babies and welcome to the forum! I think you'll find lots of good info here.

Yes, I definitely agree that they should have a primarily wet food diet. Kittens that young should be fed several times a day...I would say at least 3, 4 if they want it and let them eat as much as they want.

Sounds good, would one "packet" be good for one out of four meals?
Thanks again

Packet? Are you feeding pouched food? How many ounces in it? What brand are you feeding?
